- How do we order from Pharmacosmos?
For pack sizes up to 500g, please order directly from Pharmacosmos via this homepage. For larger pack size requirements, please request a quotation via www.dextran.net or send an email to dextran@pharmacosmos.com. Our standard pack sizes are also 5 kg and 50 kg. We dispatch directly to customers worldwide.

- Do you have a distributor in our country?
We dispatch all orders directly from our manufacturing facilities in Denmark (Europe) to any company address worldwide. We have a distributor in China – Sinopharm Chemical Reagent Co. Ltd, please see www.dextran.com.cn and a distributor in Korea, SK Bioland, please see www.dextran.kr

- Do you use international couriers to ship your products?
Yes. We dispatch via Global Solutions with UPS or FedEx depending on destination.

- When can we expect product delivery after order confirmation?
For small quantities, please expect shipment by courier within 5 business days after receipt of payment. For large quantities, please contact us for more information.

- Will we receive the tracking number after order confirmation?
Yes. We will send you the tracking number as soon as possible after the goods have been collected at our facilities.

- Do you accept international credit cards?
Yes. We accept Visa and MasterCard up to 3000 EUR/4000 USD. For larger amounts, we prefer bank transfer.

- Where do I find the Dextran product prices?
Pharmacosmos’ Quality Dextrans are available for online purchase. Our Technical Quality Dextrans are available in 5g pack size (most fractions), 100g and 500g. Pharmaceutical Quality Dextrans are available in 100g and 500g for online purchase. For larger pack size requirements, please request a quotation via www.dextran.net or you may send an email to dextran@pharmacosmos.com. Our standard pack sizes are also 5 kg and 50 kg.

- Are Dextrans from Pharmacosmos identical to Amersham Biosciences/GE Healthcare pharmacopoeial dextran products?
When GE Healthcare stopped offering Dextran (2003) they recommended their customers to shift to Dextran from Pharmacosmos. Pharmacosmos is the world leading manufacturer of Dextran and furthermore, Pharmacosmos is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and certified by the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines (EDQM).

- Is any material of human or animal origin used in the manufacture of Dextran from Pharmacosmos?
Pharmacosmos' dextran products do not contain any materials of human or animal origin or any animal derived additives.

- Is Dextran from Pharmacosmos free of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) and Transmissible Spongiforme Encephalopatier (TSE)?
Yes, Pharmacosmos' Dextrans are BSE and TSE free. No materials used in the manufacturing processes of Pharmacosmos Dextran are susceptible to TSE (ref. European Commission Decision 97/534/EC, Ph. Eur. chapter 5.2. transmitting animal spongiform encephalopathy agents via medicinal products and the related general monograph no. 1483, EMEA/410/01 rev.2 and Resolution AP-CSP (99) 4). Note that some other dextran producers include animal components in form of milk-based culture component in their production of dextran.

- Is Pharmacosmos Dextran products subject to the European REACH Regulation?
According to Article 2(9) of the Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2006, Dextrans are polymers of glucose and, therefore, exempt from the obligation to register. Furthermore, the monomer of Dextran products (glucose) does not have to be registered as glucose is exempt from the obligation to register in accordance with Article 2(7)(a).
Additionally, clinical grade Dextrans used as API in human or veterinary medicinal products or used as additive in food or feeding stuff are exempt from registration according to Article 2(5)(a) and Article 2(5)(b) respectively.

- Should I use Pharmaceutical or Technical Quality Dextran?
Pharmaceutical Quality Dextran is of the highest quality and suitable for applications for human or veterinarian use. When Dextran is used in a pharmaceutical product or medical device, we recommend a Pharmaceutical Quality Dextran. Pharmaceutical Quality and Technical Quality differ in the analytical package, specification, the documentation support and the availability of quality services.

- Do you deliver customized dextran?
Yes, Pharmacosmos has highly-developed manufacturing facilities for separation, purification and characterization of Dextran fractions. We are specialized in development of customized Dextran fractions with respect to molecular weight distribution and purity profile.

- Do you support student or research projects?
Due to a large number of requests for free samples, we are forced to refrain from handing out free samples as a general policy. However, Pharmacosmos do make exceptions to this rule in case of project of interest to the Dextran society in general or highly relevant scientifically or commercial projects.
