Cryopreservation

Dextrans can be used as a cryoprotectant for cell lines, stem cell preparations, biological samples and more. Our high quality dextrans for cryopreservation are sold under the brand name Pentahibe® (pentaisomaltose).

Uncompromising cryopreservation with Pentahibe®

Our Pentahibe® advanced cryopreservation formulas are designed to protect and preserve cells during cryopreservation. The key component of Pentahibe® is pentaisomaltose, a naturally derived alternative to dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO).

Studies show that DMSO has a toxicity level that can induce epigenetic changes, and it can cause adverse reactions in patients such as headache, nausea, vomiting, and bradycardia. Pentahibe® is a safe and effective alternative to higher concentrations of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) for the cryopreservation of cells. With Pentahibe®, you can reduce or even eliminate the use of DMSO – without compromising on safety, efficacy or functionality.

Pentahibe® is optimised for the cryopreservation of hematopoietic stem cells, mesenchymal stem cells and T-cells, making it an important step towards improving safety for patients around the world.
